The RD Toastmasters Club levels up its performance by earning the club’s first founder’s award after successfully sponsoring
the Gensan Toastmasters Club (GTMC), the first and only community club in General Santos City. With the initiative of
Toastmaster Ivan Jude Busgano, Director of Area 41 and also a member of RDTMC, GTMC was finally established as a
chartered club on September 2018.
RDTMC received a Founder’s Award ribbon for the club’s banner in honor of Dr. Ralph Smedley, the founder of Toastmasters
International. As the sponsoring club, RDTMC helped in organizing the new club by conducting demo meetings, managing regular
meetings and in giving evaluations and feedback. This experience has helped improve the competencies of RDTMC offcers and
members in terms of project-management abilities, marketing expertise and leadership skills.
GTMC is represented by a diverse set of professionals in General Santos and South Cotabato ranging from doctors, teachers,
bankers and entrepreneurs. With the goal of providing supportive and positive learning environment to its members, GTMC and
RDTMC aim to hone its club members to become better communicator and leaders of this generation. (Joyce H. Cristobal)
